Interpreting services are an aid in communication. With increasing global travel and the huge growth of the internet, language interpreting services are becoming a vital cog in global commerce and interactions. It is important to make the distinction between interpreting and translation. Interpreting requires one language to be heard and another to be spoken by the interpreter. Translation requires one language to be read and another to be written by the translator. Interpreting requires a linguist with good pronounciation, diction and the ability to think quickly as to how best convey an idea.

In settings such as the United Nations, G20 meetings and other international meetings, interpreters interpret what the speaker is saying as they are speaking it, and the attendees listen through headphones. This is known as Simultaneous Interpreting, which is one of the specialities of Cardona Translations. Simultaneous Interpreters use microphones and headphones and are generally in sound-proof cubicle to block out distracting noise and improve focus. Interpreters providing these services are professionally trained to interpret all information accurately, promptly and without bias. This form of interpreting needs a team of two interpreters, due to the intensity of the task. Two interpreters work in a team and switch every 30 to 40 minutes. At Cardona Translations, our interpreters are trained to be neutral, confidential and object in their role.
Generally speaking, there is a time interval of 1 or 2 sentences after the speaker speaks before the interpreter speaks, because the they must first process the words and decide how best to convey their meaning. They study and practice for years to become certified and of course, all the Cardona Translations interpreters are NAATI certified.
